Although it's believed that Chest Kold works mainly in the central nervous system (Brain and Spine). It prevents the release of prostaglandin, which is responsible for increasing pain and body temperature. It effectively reduces the intensity of pain signals to the brain.
An overdose occurs when more than the required amount (toxic levels) of [medicine] is taken. Initial symptoms of Chest Kold overdose includes loss of appetite, drowsiness, seizures, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. Later progressive symptoms may include pain in your upper stomach, dark colored urine, yellowing of your skin or the white patches in your eyes, liver damage and in rare cases, it can also lead to coma. So, by any chance, if you have accidentally taken more than the required dose of Chest Kold inform your doctor immediately.
As we know Chest Kold is most widely used 'over-the-counter' analgesic/antipyretic medicine. However, paracetamol overdose can cause serious adverse effects on the liver, it may be fatal. But fortunately, there is an antidote, N-acetylcysteine (NAC) given within 8 hours of Chest Kold ingestion which usually can prevent all serious side effects of Chest Kold poisoning. However, do not take NAC without consulting a doctor as your doctor will tell you the right way and methods to help you relieve from this drug poisoning.
Yes, you can take Chest Kold with or without food, because it doesn't irritate the stomach lining, unlike other drugs. However, if you are taking NSAIDs (painkillers) such as Aspirin and Ibuprofen along with paracetamol it is best to take them with a light meal or a glass of milk.
