Yes Cefix is used to treat typhoid fever. It is second-line treatment for typhoid fever. If other antibiotics are resistant to salmonella typhi then this drug is found to be very effective to give symptomatic relief during typhoid.
Discontinuing Cefix in between may promote resistant to bacteria which result in relapse of infection. You are recommended to complete the 7 - 14 days course even after getting symptomatic relief.
