Interaction between Food and Pantolet
Taking Pantolet with food does not cause any problems.
Interaction between Alcohol and Pantolet
Consult your doctor before consuming alcohol while taking Pantolet as it can have severe side effects.
Pantolet should be taken 30 - 60 minute before taking any meal. Preferably it should be taken once a day in the morning before breakfast. However, some patient may require to take it twice a day, in this case, 1 tablet should be taken in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening before the meal as directed by the doctor. You are recommended to consult your doctor regarding the exact dosage regime of medicine and follow his/her instruction.
This is because long-term use of Pantolet can cause Vitamin B12 deficiency. Stomach acids help in the absorption of Vitamin B 12, and this drug suppresses stomach acids which are required for the absorption of vitamin B12. Hence patients taking [medicine] for a long time have Vitamin B12 deficiency. To replenish Vitamin B12 in your body your doctor prescribes this vitamin along with this medicine.
Pantolet is not an antacid. It is proton pump inhibitor which reduce the excess acid in the stomach.
Discontinuation of Pantolet on your own can cause rebound effects. So, it advisable to take this drug as directed by the doctor and do not discontinue medicine on your own.
Take Pantolet as long as your doctor has recommended you to take it. Do not exceed the prescribed dose. Consult your doctor if there is no symptomatic relief.
