      Question almost 6 years ago

      How does Panex work?

Dr. Abhijit MBBS , General Physician

Panex contains paroxetine which belongs to the class of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) that works by inhibiting the reuptake (reabsorption) of a neurotransmitter (chemical messenger) serotonin which is presumed to be associated with the feeling of well-being and happiness. Low levels of serotonin in our brain cause low mood and depression. Inhibition of reuptake of serotonin by Panex results in its increased concentration in our brain which helps in elevating the mood.

      Does Panex make you thirsty?

Dr. Kapil Sharma MBBS , General Physician

Yes, Panex may cause increased thirst but it occurs only in a few cases. This is because Panex lower the levels of sodium (hyponatremia) which leads to increased thirst. This side effect is reversible and it goes away after discontinuation of this drug.
