No, Zimigut is not a penicillin. It contains rifaximin which is a broad spectrum antibiotic and an analog of rifampicin. It is a prescription drug that is used in the treatment of travelers’ diarrhea (TD), hepatic encephalopathy, and irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D).
Yes, Zimigut can be taken with amoxicillin. No clinically significant drug interaction has been reported between them. However, if you feel any discomfort after taking this drug along with amoxicillin then do not hesitate to inform your doctor.
