No, Liponorm ASP does not cause diabetes. It has not been reported to cause diabetes. However, Liponorm ASP might increase your blood sugar levels slightly. Liponorm ASP comes in form of a tablet and ideally, it should be taken by mouth once daily as advised by your doctor. It can be taken with food or without food at any time of the day. Precautions must be taken in patients with liver disease, diabetes, and hypothyroidism.
Liponorm ASP works by inhibiting an enzyme (HMG-CoA reductase) which is responsible for cholesterol synthesis in our body, its inhibition results in increased levels of HDL (good cholesterol) and decreased levels of LDL (bad cholesterol) which lowers the risk of developing heart disease and helps in preventing strokes
