Yes, Nimulid SP can cause renal failure If taken for a long time. It may lead to several renal dysfunctions such as tubular necrosis, glomerulitis, renal papillary necrosis, elevation in serum creatinine and renal failure. Please consult your doctor before taking this medicine, if you have any kidney disease.
Take Nimulid SP as directed by your doctor. Do not discontinue the drug suddenly or take it longer than prescribed by your doctor.
Nimulid SP is an analgesic (painkiller) which relieves pain arising from the affected area by suppressing the cyclooxygenase 2 (increases the inflammatory response.)
Nimulid SP is a painkiller, not an antibiotic drug. It is used to treat the short-lasting painful inflammatory conditions such as sports injuries, sinusitis, and other ear-nose-throat disorders, dental surgery, bursitis (Inflammation of the fluid-filled sac in the joints), lower backache, dysmenorrhoea (painful menstruation), post-operative pain, osteoarthritis, and fever.
Ideally Nimulid SP is not prescribed by a doctor for a toothache. However, in the absence of painkillers such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen, naproxen etc, nimesulide can be taken to get instant relief from tooth pain. Generally, for treating toothache arising due to dental cavities and dental procedures ibuprofen along with antibiotics are recommended by dentists to reduce swelling and pain.
