Urilosin is a brand name for tamsulosin. It belongs to a class of drugs known as alpha blockers. It is available in the form of a tablet and capsule. It is used in men for the treatment of enlarged prostate (benign prostate hyperplasia or BPH) which may comprise painful urination, difficulty in urinating (incomplete bladder emptying, hesitation, dribbling, weak stream), urgency and frequency. It is also used for the treatment of chronic prostatitis (off-label).
Urilosin blocks receptors in the prostate, prostatic capsule, prostate urethra, and bladder neck. When these receptors are blocked, smooth muscle relaxation occurs in the bladder neck and prostate, decreasing the urinary outflow resistance in men.
No, Urilosin doesn't cause retrograde ejaculation. Retrograde ejaculation occurs when there is an abnormal ejaculation, reduced ejaculate volume and ejaculation force, absence of seminal emission and backflow of the seminal fluid from the urethra to the bladder.
