Interaction between Alcohol and Repan 40 Mg Tablet
Taking alcohol with Repan 40 Mg Tablet can be dangerous.
This is because long-term use of Repan can cause Vitamin B12 deficiency. Stomach acids help in the absorption of Vitamin B 12, and this drug suppresses stomach acids which are required for the absorption of vitamin B12. Hence patients taking [medicine] for a long time have Vitamin B12 deficiency. To replenish Vitamin B12 in your body your doctor prescribes this vitamin along with this medicine.
Take Repan as long as your doctor has recommended you to take it. Do not exceed the prescribed dose. Consult your doctor if there is no symptomatic relief.
Repan works by blocking the action of the enzyme in the wall of a stomach which is responsible for acid production in the stomach. By blocking the enzyme, the production of acid is decreased, and this helps to relieve the stomach from acidity, heartburn, GERD, stomach ulcer and other acidity related stomach problem.
Avoid taking Repan with levothyroxine because it delays the absorption of levothyroxine and also effects the efficacy of levothyroxine. Please seek guidance from your doctor regarding taking these two medicines together.
