No, Raz (Excella) is not an antibiotic. It belongs to the group of medications called proton pump inhibitor which blocks the excessive acid secretion in the stomach while antibiotics are the medicine that prevents and treats the infection caused by bacteria.
Raz (Excella) is available in tablet, capsule and injection form. It should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food because food does not affect the absorption of the drug. It should be taken the whole and swallowed with water. It should not be chewed, crushed or split. It should be taken at exactly the same time every day so that there is less chance of missing the dose.
Raz (Excella) may cause allergy in rare instances. An allergic reaction might lead to swelling of the face, development of a rash, throat tightness and difficulty in breathing. If you develop any of these symptoms, talk to your doctor immediately. He may stop Raz (Excella) for a while and examine you properly.
