Rabazio is a brand name for rabeprazole. It belongs to a class of medications known as proton pump inhibitors. It is available in the form of a tablet, capsule, and injection. Rabazio is used to alleviate the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disorder (GERD). GERD is a condition in which acid back-flows from the stomach to the esophagus (the tube which connects the stomach with throat) causing heartburn and injury to the esophagus. Rabazio is used to prevent this damage. Rabazio is also used to treat conditions like Zollinger Ellison syndrome (excessive acid is produced by the stomach). It is used for the treatment of ulcers (sores in the lining of stomach and intestine) and also used in combination with other antibiotics (such as amoxicillin and clarithromycin) to manage H.pylori infection.
Yes, Rabazio is safe to take as long as it is prescribed by your doctor. However, in some people, it may produce some side effects like a headache, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting, sore throat and gas. If you suffer from any side effects, please inform your doctor immediately.
Yes, Rabazio might lead to low magnesium levels in persons who take it for at least 3 months. Magnesium helps in absorption of vitamin D and calcium, low level of magnesium will affect the absorption of Vit. D and calcium lead to decrease bone density and increases the risk of bone fracture. Low-level magnesium can be managed by taking a dietary supplement which is rich in magnesium.
Rarely Rabazio causes stomach cancer. There has been no direct relationship to establish the fact. However, stomach cancer and other cancers may develop because of recurring acid reflux for a long time for example 7 - 8 years or more. If you feel any symptoms associated with cancer such as consistent low-grade fever, weight loss due to unexplained reasons, and pain in the abdomen, do not hesitate to get it diagnosed by a physician.
No, Rabazio doesn't cause high blood pressure. High blood pressure can be managed by losing some amount of weight, doing some kind of physical activity on a daily basis, eating a healthy diet, reducing sodium in the diet, limiting the amount of alcohol and caffeine, quitting smoking, and taking less stress. If your blood pressure doesn't get controlled, your doctor might start you on a hypertensive drug ( amlodipine, telmisartan etc). Please follow the instructions of your doctor completely.
