Phexin contains cefalexin which is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. It works by preventing the cell wall synthesis in bacteria by binding to specific proteins (penicillin-binding proteins). Phexin is effective against a wide range of both gram negative and gram positive bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Streptococcus pyogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, and Klebsiella pneumoniae.

No, Phexin does not cover the strains related to Pseudomonas species. They are generally found to be resistant to Phexin. Hence, it is not recommended to use this drug for the treatment of the infection caused by Pseudomonas species.
