Yes, Perfame is safe to use, if taken a prescribed amount and duration as advised by your doctor. However, very few side effects are observed such as stomach upset, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, vomiting, and joint pain. If you experience any of the above- mentioned side effects after taking medicine then immediately consult your doctor follow his/her instruction.
Avoid taking Perfame with levothyroxine because it delays the absorption of levothyroxine and also effects the efficacy of levothyroxine. Please seek guidance from your doctor regarding taking these two medicines together.
Perfame should be taken 30 - 60 minute before taking any meal. Preferably it should be taken once a day in the morning before breakfast. However, some patient may require to take it twice a day, in this case, 1 tablet should be taken in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening before the meal as directed by the doctor. You are recommended to consult your doctor regarding the exact dosage regime of medicine and follow his/her instruction.
Perfame works by blocking the action of the enzyme in the wall of a stomach which is responsible for acid production in the stomach. By blocking the enzyme, the production of acid is decreased, and this helps to relieve the stomach from acidity, heartburn, GERD, stomach ulcer and other acidity related stomach problem.
Discontinuation of Perfame on your own can cause rebound effects. So, it advisable to take this drug as directed by the doctor and do not discontinue medicine on your own.
