Pepdin contain famotidine. It works blocking certain receptors in the stomach (H2 receptors) which prevents the excessive secretion of stomach acid from gastric parietal cells. Hence in this way, Pepdin promotes healing of stomach ulcer and provides relief in acid reflux and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Long-term use of Pepdin can cause vitamin B12 deficiency. Because it decreases the acid secretion in the stomach which is required for the absorption of vitamin B12. To stop this deficiency, your doctor may prescribe Pepdin along with vitamin B12.
