Interaction between Alcohol and Mucomix Tablet
Taking Mucomix Tablet with alcohol can have severely harmful effects on your health.
Mucomix contains acetylcysteine which works as an antidote in case of paracetamol overdose. It is presumed that acetylcysteine reduces the extent of liver damage caused by the toxic levels of paracetamol. It protects the liver by maintaining or restoring the glutathione levels which is an antioxidant also by detoxifying paracetamol metabolite in our body. For excessive mucus (phlegm) in respiratory diseases, Mucomix works as a mucolytic agent which softens the mucus and reduces its thickness that helps in clearing the air passage. thus providing relief to the patient from excessive mucus.
For excessive mucus, Mucomix has to be taken once in a day or as advised by your doctor. Precautions must be taken in patients with a history of peptic ulcer. For paracetamol poisoning only given under medical supervision.
Yes, Mucomix may cause low blood pressure (hypotension). If you are experiencing lightheadedness or blurry vision which are symptoms of low blood pressure after taking this drug then try to sit down and rest for a while till it subsides and report it your doctor immediately without further delay.
Rarely, Mucomix causes fever and chills. It is a rare side effect of the medicine. If you are experiencing fever after taking this drug then try to take mild antipyretic medicine such as paracetamol even after this fever does not subsidise then discuss with your doctor and follow his/her instructions.
