Hqra is a brand name of hydroxychloroquine and it comes in the form of a tablet. It belongs to the class of drugs known as antimalarials and disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs). It is a prescription drug that is used in the prevention and treatment of malaria which is a vector-borne infectious disease caused by parasites Plasmodium species which are Plasmodium falciparum, Plasmodium malariae, Plasmodium ovale, and Plasmodium vivax. It is also used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) both are autoimmune diseases which causes inflammation and pain. It is also used off-label for the treatment of porphyria cutanea tarda (PCT) (a blood disorder that affects the skin).
