Flucopride is a brand name of fluconazole. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of antifungal medications. It is used to treat fungal infections such as vaginal candidiasis (yeast infection of the vagina), oral thrush etc.
Flucopride inhibit the fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme lanosterol 14- demethylase and thus block ergosterol synthesis leading to membrane abnormalities in the fungus. It kills the fungus by destroying its cell membrane.
Rarely, Flucopride can cause irregular periods.
