Due to lack of research, nothing can be said about side effects of consuming alcohol while taking Dirifa.
Dirifa in combination with other antibiotics might be used to eradicate Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) but it is generally not used and not approved for the treatment of the infection caused by H. pylori.
Dirifa works by inhibiting the bacterial protein synthesis which is essential for bacterial growth. The absence of these proteins results in stunned bacterial growth due to which bacteria is not able to survive. For hepatic encephalopathy Dirifa works by inhibiting the growth of enteric ammonia-producing bacteria which are present in our gut, this results in the indirect reduction of serum ammonia level. In irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea, how Dirifa works are still unknown but it is presumed that it works by changing the bacterial flora in small intestine and reduction in gas.
No, Dirifa does not cause weight gain. It has not been reported by the patients who are taking this drug but Dirifa has been reported to cause weight loss in a few patients with travelers’ diarrhea. If you notice any unusual rapid weight changes after taking this drug then discuss with it your doctor and follow his/her instructions.
Yes, Dirifa might cause a headache. It is a rare side effect of this drug. However, the exact cause of a headache is still unknown. If you experience a severe headache after taking this drug, take a mild painkiller, apply balm and take rest even after this if the pain does not subside then discuss with your doctor without any further delay.
