Chlormet DM is a brand name of chloramphenicol and it comes in the various dosage forms such as an oral tablet, capsule, syrup, and eye drops. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of medications called amphenicols. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic which is active against a wide variety of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It is mainly used in the treatment of psittacosis also known as parrot fever, rickettsial infection, cystic fibrosis, pneumonia, and also sometimes in the management of typhoid fever.
Yes, Chlormet DM has been reported to cause fever and chills but this occurs in a few cases. If you are experiencing fever after taking this drug then try taking antipyretics (drugs that reduces fever, such as paracetamol) if the fever relapses again then discuss it with your doctor.
