Calicef is a brand name for ceftriaxone. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of medication called cephalosporins. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic, used for treating bacterial infections, such as bronchitis, gonorrhea, respiratory, ear, throat, and urinary tract infection.
Calicef does not help in preventing cold, because a common cold is a viral infection. However, the drug can help in bringing relief from symptoms of cold, if it is associated with a bacterial infection.
