Calchek L is a brand name of amlodipine. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of medications called calcium channel blocker. It is available in solid oral dosage forms like tablet and capsule. It is used in the treatment of high blood pressure (high BP) and coronary artery disease. It is not recommended for heart failure. It is also used in the treatment of angina (chest pain).

Calchek L is calcium channel blocker. It works by inhibiting the movement of calcium into vascular smooth muscle cells and cardiac cells which inhibits the contraction of cardiac muscle and vascular smooth muscle and reduce electrical conduction within heart cell and dilate blood vessel. Dilation of the blood vessel reduces the blood pressure.
Calchek L comes in form of a tablet and ideally, it should be taken by mouth once daily as advised by your doctor. It can be taken with food or without food at any time of the day. Precautions must be taken in patients with liver disease, diabetes, and hypothyroidism.
