Amlovas is calcium channel blocker. It works by inhibiting the movement of calcium into vascular smooth muscle cells and cardiac cells which inhibits the contraction of cardiac muscle and vascular smooth muscle and reduce electrical conduction within heart cell and dilate blood vessel. Dilation of the blood vessel reduces the blood pressure.

Can I discontinue Amlovas on my own without doctors advice?

No, Amlovas should not be discontinued on your own. Discontinuation of a drug on your own can cause some serious problem such as blood pressure or chest pain which lead to heart attack and stroke. So before stopping this medicine, you must consult your doctor, he/she may switch your treatment if you can not tolerate this drug.
