Repan Z is a commercial drug that is prescribed in the form of Tablet. Primarily, it is used for the treatment of Acidity, GERD, Peptic Ulcer. Secondary and off-label uses of Repan Z have also been mentioned below.
The optimal dosage of Repan Z is largely dependent on the individual's body weight, medical history, gender and age. Interaction between Food and Repan Z
You can take Repan Z with food.
Interaction between Alcohol and Repan Z
Consuming Repan Z with alcohol can have many serious effects on your body.
Repan Z works by blocking the action of the enzyme in the wall of a stomach which is responsible for acid production in the stomach. By blocking the enzyme, the production of acid is decreased, and this helps to relieve the stomach from acidity, heartburn, GERD, stomach ulcer and other acidity related stomach problem.
Discontinuation of Repan Z on your own can cause rebound effects. So, it advisable to take this drug as directed by the doctor and do not discontinue medicine on your own.
This is because long-term use of Repan Z can cause Vitamin B12 deficiency. Stomach acids help in the absorption of Vitamin B 12, and this drug suppresses stomach acids which are required for the absorption of vitamin B12. Hence patients taking [medicine] for a long time have Vitamin B12 deficiency. To replenish Vitamin B12 in your body your doctor prescribes this vitamin along with this medicine.
Repan Z is a prescription drug so do not take it without consulting a doctor. It can be harmful to people to take this medicine without a doctor's advice.
Repan Z should be taken 30 - 60 minute before taking any meal. Preferably it should be taken once a day in the morning before breakfast. However, some patient may require to take it twice a day, in this case, 1 tablet should be taken in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening before the meal as directed by the doctor. You are recommended to consult your doctor regarding the exact dosage regime of medicine and follow his/her instruction.
