Hitrex is a prescription medicine that is available as a Injection. Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, Lymphoma are some of its major therapeutic uses. Secondary and off-label uses of Hitrex have also been mentioned below.
The right dosage of Hitrex depends on the age, gender, and medical history of the patient. The condition it has been prescribed for, and the route of administration also determine the right dosage. Refer to the dosage section for a detailed discussion.
Hitrex also has some side effects, the most common being Abdominal Pain. Some other side effects of Hitrex have been listed ahead. Interaction between Food and Hitrex
There isn't any research available on the side effects of taking Hitrex with food.
Interaction between Alcohol and Hitrex
Drinking alcohol while taking Hitrex may lead to slight side effects. If you experience any side effects, contact your doctor.
Hitrex can help in curing psoriasis which is caused by the overactive immune system. It is used in the treatment of severe cases of psoriasis when another treatment with other medications is not working. Hitrex contains methotrexate that suppresses the body's overactive immune system. This helps in reducing the severity of psoriasis so that patient can use milder therapy for relief.
The dosage of this drug may vary depending on the diagnosis and the patient's medical condition. Take Hitrex as advised by your doctor. Ideally, oral Hitrex has to be taken empty stomach because the presence of food might affect the absorption of this drug from the stomach. Precautions must be taken in patients with bone marrow depression, and improper liver or kidney function.
Yes, Hitrex may cause anemia, this occurs only in a few cases. It is a rare side effect of this drug. It occurs due to bone marrow suppression which might cause anemia (low red blood cells count), leukopenia (low white blood cells count), thrombocytopenia (low platelets count), and pancytopenia (low red cells, white cells, and platelets). However, this effect is reversible in nature and the function of bone marrow is restored after discontinuation of this drug.
Unfortunately, there is no such drug available till now that can cure rheumatoid arthritis. Hitrex is effectively used in combination with other drugs to relieve the symptoms that associated with rheumatoid arthritis such as pain and swelling.
No, Hitrex does not cause weight changes (weight gain or loss). It has not been reported by the patients who are taking this drug. However, if you are experiencing any unusual weight changes then it might be due to some other medical condition and you are advised to discuss it with your doctor.
