Yes, Rifastop can be taken with amoxicillin. No clinically significant drug interaction has been reported between them. However, if you feel any discomfort after taking this drug along with amoxicillin then do not hesitate to inform your doctor.
Discontinuing Rifastop on your own can increase the chances of bacterial resistance and infection relapse. It is recommended that you always consult your doctor if you have decided to discontinue this medicine.
No, Rifastop does not cause weight gain. It has not been reported by the patients who are taking this drug but Rifastop has been reported to cause weight loss in a few patients with travelers’ diarrhea. If you notice any unusual rapid weight changes after taking this drug then discuss with it your doctor and follow his/her instructions.
Rifastop can be taken 2 -3 times a day by mouth or as advised by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food as the presence of food does not affect the absorption of this drug. Precautions must be taken in patients with improper liver function.
