Zoftamic is a commercial drug that is prescribed in the form of Injection. Primarily, it is used for the treatment of Urinary Tract Infection. Other than this, Zoftamic has some other therapeutic uses, which have been discussed ahead.

Zoftamic is a broad-spectrum antibiotic which is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It works by preventing the synthesis of proteins that bacteria need to survive, in the absence of protein synthesis bacteria become vulnerable and dies. It is effective against different types of bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Proteus species, S. aureus, Acinetobacter and Serratia species.
Discontinuing Zoftamic on your own can increase the chances of bacterial resistance and infection relapse. It is recommended that you always consult your doctor if you have decided to discontinue this medicine.
Yes, Zoftamic has been reported to cause diarrhoea and it is a common side effect of this medicine. Drink plenty of fluids while you are taking this medicine. If you are experiencing severe diarrhoea after using this drug, discuss with your doctor immediately without any further delay.
Yes, Zoftamic is effective against bacteria (Pseudomonas). But it is also found that Pseudomonas can get resistant to this drug and in that case Zoftamic will not produce desired results.
