Interaction between Food and Amitrust
Taking Amitrust with food does not cause any problems.
Interaction between Alcohol and Amitrust
No research has been done on this till date. Therefore, it is not known what the effect of taking Amitrust with alcohol will be.
Occasionally, Amitrust can cause drug-induced thrombocytopenia (blood clot formation in the vessel). However, if you experience severe thrombocytopenia after taking this medicine, please immediately seek medical help.
No, Amitrust is not available in tablet form. It is available in only injectable dosage form either given by intramuscularly or intravenously depends on patient condition or severity of infections.
Do not self-administer Amitrust. It comes in the form of injection and given preferably 2 - 3 times in a day (Intravenously). Discontinuing the medicine in between may promote resistant bacteria which result in a relapse of the infection. You are recommended to complete the 7 - 10 days course even after getting symptomatic relief. In case you feel any discomfort such as hearing loss and nephrotoxicity while taking Amitrust please inform your doctor immediately.
Discontinuing Amitrust on your own can increase the chances of bacterial resistance and infection relapse. It is recommended that you always consult your doctor if you have decided to discontinue this medicine.
Yes, Amitrust has been reported to cause diarrhoea and it is a common side effect of this medicine. Drink plenty of fluids while you are taking this medicine. If you are experiencing severe diarrhoea after using this drug, discuss with your doctor immediately without any further delay.
