No, Vertimek does not treat motion sickness. It is antivertigo medicine used to treat vertigo associated with Meniere's disease. Motion sickness is treated with ondansetron and another anti-nausea drug. It is well tolerated and has no side effects.
Vertimek can be safely taken as prescribed by your doctor. Do not discontinue the medicine suddenly or take it longer than prescribed duration. It starts working within a few days after consuming this drug. However, in some patient, it may take some weeks to work properly. Duration, of course, varies patient to patient.
