Yes, Fruselac is safe to use, if taken in prescribed amount and duration as advised by the doctor. However, certain side effects have been associated with this drug such as diarrhea, headache, and dizziness. If you experience any discomfort after taking this do inform your doctor.
Fruselac works by increasing the rate of urine formation by inhibiting the sodium and potassium reabsorption from the kidney, this causes more frequent urination than normal. The increased flow of urination leads to a decrease in blood volume and the removal of this extra fluid from your body results in a decrease in edema. The decreased blood volume causes relaxation of the walls of blood vessels and this results in a decrease in blood pressure which gives relief from swelling and high blood pressure to the patient.
Yes, Fruselac can cause diarrhea but this occurs only in a few cases. It is a known side effect of this medicine. The exact cause behind this is not known. To keep yourself well hydrated, drink plenty of fluids while using this drug. If you are experiencing severe diarrhea after taking this drug, consult your doctor immediately without any further delay.
No, Fruselac should not be discontinued without doctors advice. You are recommended to always consult a doctor before discontinuing this medicine.
Ideally, the tablet has to be taken once or twice daily. It can be taken anytime but you are advised to take it in the morning because it causes more frequent urination which can disturb your sleep in the night. It can be taken with or without food but it is better to take it with food to avoid stomach upset.
