Interaction between Alcohol and Calpol 650 Tablet (15)
Consuming Calpol 650 Tablet (15) with alcohol can have many serious effects on your body.
An overdose occurs when more than the required amount (toxic levels) of [medicine] is taken. Initial symptoms of Calpol Tablet overdose includes loss of appetite, drowsiness, seizures, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. Later progressive symptoms may include pain in your upper stomach, dark colored urine, yellowing of your skin or the white patches in your eyes, liver damage and in rare cases, it can also lead to coma. So, by any chance, if you have accidentally taken more than the required dose of Calpol Tablet inform your doctor immediately.
Calpol Tablet is not recommended for back pain. However, It can be taken along with a painkiller for the treatment of back pain.
Although it's believed that Calpol Tablet works mainly in the central nervous system (Brain and Spine). It prevents the release of prostaglandin, which is responsible for increasing pain and body temperature. It effectively reduces the intensity of pain signals to the brain.
Calpol Tablet is primarily not used to treat a common cold and sore throat. It can only relieve cold-related symptoms such as a fever, headache, earache, and aching joints. It doesn't help in relieving cough or stuffy nose.
As we know Calpol Tablet is most widely used 'over-the-counter' analgesic/antipyretic medicine. However, paracetamol overdose can cause serious adverse effects on the liver, it may be fatal. But fortunately, there is an antidote, N-acetylcysteine (NAC) given within 8 hours of Calpol Tablet ingestion which usually can prevent all serious side effects of Calpol Tablet poisoning. However, do not take NAC without consulting a doctor as your doctor will tell you the right way and methods to help you relieve from this drug poisoning.
