It is available in different dosage forms such as tablet, capsule, syrup, and cream. Minicycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat bacterial as well as protozoal infection. It is used in the treatment of various type of infections such as pneumonia, respiratory tract infection, rickettsial infections, sexually transmitted infections, ophthalmic infections, anthrax including inhalational anthrax, and prophylaxis of malaria. It is also used in combination with other medications to treat acne and pimples. Sometimes Minicycline is also used as an alternative treatment for selected infections when penicillin is contraindicated.

    Minicycline can be taken orally and applied topically. An oral form such as tablet should be taken with or without food. If the medicine causes stomach upset after taking this drug take it with food or milk and drink plenty of water. Duration and dose of the course will vary according to the severity of an infection. The topical form of medicine should apply to the affected area twice daily or advice by a doctor, do not apply more or less as recommended by healthcare practitioners.
