Gram flour, also known as chickpea flour and besan, is a flour made by grinding dried garbanzo beans or white choley. Gram flour has a high nutritional value as it is rich in carbohydrates, proteins, fibre, iron, potassium, zinc and sodium. It also contains various vitamins like vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, vitamin B9 (folate), vitamin E and vitamin K. Since it is gluten-free, it can be used by people with gluten intolerance.
Gram flour is used for various purposes like:
- making fritters (pakoras).
- making various breads (example, missi roti), batters and desserts (example, besan laddoos).
- to clear dandruff from hair.
- as a face pack, face wash and a scrub for cleaning the face.
For your face, gram flour can be used in the following ways:
- Facepack: Mix a cup of gram flour with less than half a cup of rose water along with four or five drops of lemon juice to make a face pack. You can also add two to three pinches of turmeric powder to the pack.
- Face scrub: Apply gram flour (in small amounts) directly over wet face and scrub in a circular motion to exfoliate the dead skin. People with dry skin can mix the besan with a little bit of curd to form a coarse paste and use this as a scrub.
Here in this article, we will be telling about the ways in which gram flour benefits the face and helps to resolve issues like dull skin and acne.
