Standing Pendulum Exercise

The shoulder can be rotated up to 360 degrees. If you are having a frozen shoulder problem, then you can do standing pendulum exercises to correct the movement of the shoulder.

  • Stand straight and make a space of one foot between the feet, then bend a little (75 to 90 degrees), so that the affected hand can hang down and straight. (In this position, you can take support of something with the other hand)
  • Now rotate the hand which is hanging down in a circular motion (about one foot).
  • First rotate the hand from right to left and then vice versa 10 times. Gradually increase the range of rotation of the hand.
  • Do this exercise for 30 seconds and repeat for five.

Regular exercise in frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) can help reduce pain and improve shoulder mobility. Focus should be on exercises that increase shoulder stretching and range of motion. Pendulum stretch is a simple and effective exercise, in which you have to bend forward and let the affected arm hang down and make small circular rotations. Towel stretch can also be helpful in holding a towel in one hand and moving the other hand up and down. Apart from this, finger walk, in which the hand is raised up with the help of fingers on the wall, is useful in gradually stretching the shoulder muscles. It is important to consult a doctor or physiotherapist before starting any exercise, so that the exercise can be done correctly and the shoulder can be protected from damage.
