Nowadays most people spend their time on a computer screen, laptop, mobile and other gadgets, which affects the eyes a lot. Due to this, problems like eye strain, dry eyes and blurred vision start to occur. In such situations, you can get rid of these problems by doing some eye exercises.

Blinking
If you want to keep your eyes feeling fresh while keeping the focus of your eyes, then blinking exercise can prove to be very beneficial for you. This is a very easy way to sharpen the eyes. People using computers, television, mobile phones and gadgets blink their eyelids less, so remind yourself to keep blinking from time to time. Blinking gives relief to the eyes. Along with this, eye strain is also reduced.
Zooming
This exercise is considered to be very effective for increasing the focus of the eyes and it is helpful in sharpening the eyesight as well as strengthening the muscles of the eyes. For zooming:
- Sit comfortably in one place with your back straight.
- Move your hand towards the front, point your thumb up and focus on it.
- Slowly bring the thumb near your eyes until the distance between the thumb and your face is 3 inches. Keep your eyes on the thumb.
- Then slowly straighten your arm and move your thumb as far away from you as you can.
- Do this exercise for a few minutes whenever you want throughout the day.

Focus change
People should do this exercise while sitting only. Focus change exercise can cure eye strain.
- Sit up straight and keep an object at some distance from yourself.
- Keep one of your fingers at a distance of a few inches in front of your eyes.
- Focus your gaze on the finger.
- Slowly move the finger away from your face and focus your attention on the object placed away, then focus your attention back on your finger and bring the finger closer to your eyes.
- Repeat this exercise three times.
Focus Eight
This exercise should also be done while sitting. It sharpens the eyes and helps in reducing eye strain.
- Sit up straight and focus your attention on any one point at a distance of 10 inches.
- Concentrating on that point, move your eyes in the shape of an 8 figure for 30 seconds and then do this exercise again, changing the direction.
Pencil Pushup
Pencil pushup is a simple ocular exercise, in which both eyes have to be focused on the same spot. This exercise is for patients of convergence insufficiency, who are unable to do nearby tasks with both eyes simultaneously. In this, the eyes move inwards while focusing on a nearby object. You can do this standing or sitting also. To do this:
- Take a pencil and move it as far as the length of your arm.
- Focus your attention on the tip of the pencil.
- Stay focused for as long as you can and slowly bring the pencil towards your nose. When it starts to look blurry, stop.
- Then slowly move the pencil away from yourself as far as the length of your hands.
- Repeat this process 20 times.
This exercise can also be done using any object similar to the size of a pencil. Doing this exercise helps in increasing eyesight.
Vision Therapy
This exercise is done only under the supervision of the doctor. This therapy is done especially to strengthen the muscles of the eyes. It can also be helpful in eye problems like convergence insufficiency, strabismus, amblyopia and dyslexia.
