Ocalpic is a brand name of calcitriol. It belongs to the class of drugs known as vitamin D analog. It is a prescription drug that is used in the management of hypoparathyroidism which is decreased levels of parathyroid hormone from the parathyroid gland and secondary hyperparathyroidism which is increased levels of parathyroid hormone (PTH) usually seen in patients with chronic renal failure. It is also used in the deficiency of calcium (hypocalcemia) associated with chronic renal dialysis and postmenopausal osteoporosis. It is used off-label for the treatment of vitamin D dependent rickets.
