Lavclor Dosage & How to Take

This is the usual dosage recommended in most common treatment cases. Please remember that every patient and their case is different, so the dosage can be different based on the disease, route of administration, patient's age and medical history.

  • Special Instructions: strength 15 mg primaquine for 2 weeks and chloroquine 600 mg (10 mg/kg) followed by 300 mg (5 mg/kg) after 8 hours for 3 days
Geriatric
  • Disease: Malaria
  • Before or After Meal: Either
  • Single Maximum Dose: 25 mg/kg
  • Dosage Form: Tablet
  • Dosage Route: Oral
  • Frequency: 1 daily
  • Course Duration: 2 weeks
  • Special Instructions: strength 15 mg primaquine for 2 weeks and chloroquine 600 mg (10 mg/kg) followed by 300 mg (5 mg/kg) after 8 hours for 3 days

What is Lavclor?

Lavclor is a brand name of chloroquine and it comes in the form of a tablet, capsule, injection, and oral suspension. It belongs to the class of drugs known as antimalarials which have amebicidal activity. It is a prescription drug that is used in the treatment of malaria which is a vector-borne infectious disease caused by parasites Plasmodium species. These are Plasmodium falciparum, Plasmodium malariae, Plasmodium ovale, and Plasmodium vivax. Apart from this Lavclor is also used in the treatment of extraintestinal amebiasis which is the protozoal infection caused by parasite Entamoeba histolytica. It is also used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) both are autoimmune diseases which causes inflammation and pain. Lavclor is also used off-label for the treatment of porphyria cutanea tarda (PCT) a blood disorder that affects the skin.
