Erlamide is a non-steroidal anti-androgen medication used primarily in the treatment of prostate cancer. It is specifically indicated for patients with non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (nmCRPC) and metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC). This medication works by inhibiting the effects of androgens (male hormones) that fuel the growth of prostate cancer cells.

Indications:

1. Non-Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer (nmCRPC): For patients with rising prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels despite androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) but no detectable metastases.
2. Metastatic Castration-Sensitive Prostate Cancer (mCSPC): For newly diagnosed patients where cancer has spread to other parts of the body and remains responsive to androgen deprivation.

Erlamide selectively binds to androgen receptors in prostate cancer cells, blocking their activation by testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This action inhibits tumor growth and induces cancer cell death.

Common side effects: Fatigue, Hypertension, Rash, Hot flashes, Diarrhea, Weight loss.

Serious Side Effects: Thyroid dysfunction, Cardiovascular events, Seizures (rare).

Usual Dose: 240 mg (4 tablets of 60 mg) taken orally once daily.

Administration Tips:

• Take the tablets at the same time each day, with or without food.
• Swallow tablets whole; do not crush, chew, or split.

Note: Patients should continue on androgen deprivation therapy (e.g., LHRH agonist) or have undergone bilateral orchiectomy (surgical castration).
