Cardem is a prescription medicine that is available as a Tablet. Primarily, it is used for the treatment of Angina, High BP. Secondary and off-label uses of Cardem have also been mentioned below.

Yes, Cardem can cause edema (swelling). It is the most common side effects of this drug. Usually swelling occurs in face, eyes, lips, tongue, hands, arms, feet and ankle. If these effects cause troublesome, then consult your doctor regarding whether this effect arises due to diltiazem consumption or not. If yes, then you can stop taking this medicine with the help of doctor because of alternate treatment are also available. However, it is dose-related effects if taken a low dose, chances of edema (swelling) are very less if consuming high dose the chances of edema (swelling) are high.
Take Cardem as directed by your doctor. Do not discontinue the drug suddenly or take it longer than prescribed by your doctor.
Yes, Cardem is safe to use, if taken in a prescribed amount for a specified time as advised by the doctor. However, few side effects are observed at regular doses such as palpitation, headache, indigestion, and flushing. Do not hesitate to inform your doctor if you are facing any of the above.
