Imbruvica contains Ibrutinib, a targeted therapy medication used for treating various types of blood cancers. It belongs to a class of drugs called Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitors. By blocking BTK, Ibrutinib interferes with cancer cell survival and proliferation.

Mechanism of Action

Ibrutinib irreversibly binds to Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK), inhibiting B-cell receptor signaling and reducing the survival and proliferation of malignant B cells.

Onset of Action

Clinical improvements are often observed within a few weeks of starting treatment, though full effects can take longer.

Duration of Action

The half-life of Ibrutinib is approximately 4 to 6 hours, but its therapeutic effects can last much longer due to irreversible BTK binding.

Dosage

• CLL and WM: 420 mg orally once daily.
• MCL: 560 mg orally once daily.
• cGVHD: 420 mg orally once daily. The dosage should be adjusted based on patient-specific factors and medical supervision.

Precautions
