This binding results in the formation of a complex which is non-toxic in nature and it is easily removed from the body by kidneys in urine. Normally, liver maintains the normal levels of ammonia in our body but to due liver damage caused by any medical condition affects this function which results in high levels of ammonia in our body (hyperammonemia ). These high levels of ammonia are harmful for our body which causes complications such as hepatic encephalopathy. Thus Hepawin helps in inactivation or detoxification and removal of these harmful excessive levels of ammonia which restores its balance in our body.

It is a prescription drug that is used in the management of hyperammonemia (high levels of ammonia in blood) that results from liver diseases such as liver cirrhosis (liver damage caused by long-term alcohol consumption or untreated hepatitis), fatty liver (deposition of fat in the liver), and hepatitis (inflammation of liver due to viral infection).
