Ebunat Information

Ebunat, containing Eribulin Mesylate as its active ingredient, is a chemotherapy medication. It belongs to a class of drugs known as microtubule inhibitors. Ceribulin is primarily used for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer and liposarcoma when other treatments have not been effective.

Uses:

  1. Metastatic breast cancer.
  2. Unresectable or metastatic liposarcoma.

Eribulin inhibits the growth phase of microtubules during cell division. By binding to tubulin, it prevents the formation of the mitotic spindle, which is essential for the replication of cancer cells. This leads to apoptosis (programmed cell death).

Dosage and Administration:

  • Dosage adjustments may be necessary for patients with liver or kidney impairment.

Side Effects:
Common side effects:

  • Constipation.
  • Peripheral neuropathy.
  • Low blood cell counts (neutropenia, anemia).

Serious side effects:

  • Febrile neutropenia.
  • Heart abnormalities, including QT prolongation.
  • Severe allergic reactions.

Precautions:

  • Regular blood tests to monitor white blood cell counts are essential.
