Wavocef Information

Wavocef is a commercial drug that is prescribed in the form of Injection. Urinary Tract Infection, Gonorrhea, Meningitis are some of its major therapeutic uses. Wavocef also has some secondary and off-label uses. These are listed below.

The optimal dosage of Wavocef is largely dependent on the individual's body weight, medical history, gender and age. Dosage also depends on the route of administration and your chief complaint for which the drug is prescribed. This information has been provided in detail in the dosage section.

Apart from the aforementioned side effects, Wavocef can also lead to other problems, which have been listed below. These side effects of Wavocef are usually temporary and subside with the completion of treatment. However, if these continue for a longer time, consult your doctor right away.

It is also important to note that Wavocef has a Safe effect for pregnant women and Mild effect on lactating mothers. Warnings related to Wavocef's effects on the liver, heart and kidney, if any, have been listed below.

Does Wavocef cause diarrhea?

Yes, Wavocef can cause diarrhea by disturbing bacterial flora of gut. It is a common side effect of this drug. However, if you are experiencing severe diarrhea after consuming this medicine inform the doctor immediately and check if you can discontinue the medicine. Try keeping yourself hydrated, drink plenty of fluids and take ample rest.

How to take Wavocef?

Do not self-administer Wavocef. It comes in the form of injection and preferably taken 1 - 2 times in a day (Intravenously or Intramuscularly). Take this medicine in the required quantity and duration as prescribed by your doctor. Discontinuing the a in between may promote resistant bacteria which result in a relapse of the infection. You are recommended to complete the 7 - 14 days course even after getting symptomatic relief. In case you feel any discomfort such as breathing difficulties and skin reactions while taking this medicine please inform your doctor immediately.

Does Wavocef help in preventing cold?

Wavocef does not help in preventing cold, because a common cold is a viral infection. However, the drug can help in bringing relief from symptoms of cold, if it is associated with a bacterial infection. To treat cold take ample rest, maintain proper hygiene, gargle with saline water and seek medical advice if common cold symptoms persist for more than 7-8 days.
