Apart from preventing nausea and vomiting related to chemotherapy and radiation, Vomikool can be used in this population group for managing acute gastritis. Acute gastritis presents itself as a self-limited infection with vomiting leading to dehydration and electrolyte imbalances. Always check with a child specialist and do not administer this drug yourself.
Vomikool belongs to a class of compounds known as 5 -HT3 receptor antagonists. It blocks the action of serotonin completely at the 5-HT3 receptor sites present in our brain (vomiting centre) which provides relief to the patient from nausea and vomiting.
