Yes, Pentas can treat pneumonia caused by bacteria (Streptococcus pneumoniae). Pentas works in pneumonia by preventing the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall by binding to specific proteins (penicillin-binding proteins). In the absence of the cell wall, the bacteria becomes vulnerable and dies. It also kills the bacteria during the stage of their active multiplication.
