Luliclinz is a brand name of luliconazole and it comes in the form of a topical cream. It belongs to the class of drugs known as antifungal agents (azole class anti-infectives). It is a prescription drug that is used for the treatment of interdigital tinea pedis also known as athlete's foot (fungal infection) that affects the area between the toes. It is also used in the treatment of jock itch also known as tinea cruris (fungal infection of the skin) that affects the skin area around the genitals, buttocks, and inner thighs and ringworm also known as tinea corporis. Luliclinz is effective against all of these fungal skin infections that are caused by Trichophyton rubrum and Epidermophyton floccosum.
Luliclinz contains luliconazole which is an antifungal agent that works by preventing the synthesis of ergosterol (a component of the cell membrane of fungi) through inhibition of an enzyme known as lanosterol demethylase. In the absence of ergosterol fungal cell wall is damaged that results in an increase in permeability of fungal cell wall this causes leakage of nutrients which kills the fungi. Luliclinz is effective against fungi such as Trichophyton rubrum and Epidermophyton floccosum.
Yes, Luliclinz is safe to use, if applied in a prescribed amount for a specified time as advised by the doctor. However, few side effects are observed which occurs rarely such as skin irritation or burning sensation, and contact dermatitis. Do not hesitate to inform your doctor if you are facing any of the above.
Luliclinz should be applied 1 - 2 times a day or as advised by your doctor. Luliclinz should be applied after cleaning the infected area, allow it to dry, and then gently rub the medication till it does not appear. Do not forget to wash your hands after applying this drug.
Ideally, Luliclinz is used for 1 - 2 weeks till the fungal infection is completely eradicated. You are advised to use it as per your doctor's instructions. Do not discontinue the drug suddenly or use it longer than prescribed by your doctor.
