Genticyn contains gentamicin which is a broad spectrum antibiotic effective against many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It works by stopping the production of proteins that bacteria need to survive. Hence in this way, Genticyn kills the bacteria and treats the infection.
Usually, Genticyn is given for short-term treatment (7 days), your doctor may prescribe it for a longer duration as per the need based on infection severity after re-evaluating. Use it as advised by your doctor. Do not discontinue the drug suddenly or use it longer than prescribed by your doctor.
