Erec is a brand name for sildenafil. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of medications called phosphodiesterase-5 enzyme Inhibitor. It is used to treat erectile dysfunction. It's effectiveness for treating sexual dysfunction in women has yet not been established. It works only by effective sexual stimulation and does not increase sexual desire.
No, Erec is not prescribed for premature ejaculation. It increases the blood flow to the penis, help to produce an erection. It inhibits the ejaculation, so Erec is not prescribed for ejaculation.
Erec works by inhibiting the phosphodiesterase-5 enzyme in the corpus cavernosum, leading to smooth muscle relaxation (vasodilation). This smooth muscle relaxation leads to vasodilation and increases the flow of blood in the penis causing an erection.
Erec has been under trial and is found to be safe in men up to 85 years old. It has not been monitored in men younger than 18 years. It is not indicated in the pediatric age group.
