Daclor contains chloramphenicol which is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It works by inhibiting the protein synthesis in bacteria which needs to survive. In the absence of protein, the bacterial growth is stunned and slowed. It can also kill the bacteria in higher doses.
