Clinof is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. It works by preventing the protein synthesis in bacteria which are essential for it. The absence of these vital proteins results in stunned bacterial cell growth due to which bacteria become vulnerable and dies. Clinof is effective against a wide range of both gram negative and gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Prevotella melaninogenica, and lostridium perfringens.
Yes, Clinof can treat UTI (urinary tract infection) but it is not generally preferred as a first line drug of choice for the treatment of UTI. It is only prescribed in UTI when other drugs are not effective in treating the infection.
Take Clinof as directed by your doctor to ensure complete eradication of infection. Do not take or use this medicine longer than prescribed to avoid bacterial resistance.
Oral Clinof can be taken with or without food because food does not have any effect on the absorption of this drug. The topical gel of Clinof should be applied as a thin layer once daily on the affected area or as advised by your doctor. Precautions must be taken in patients with colitis and improper kidney or liver function.
