Yes, Chlo is an antibiotic. It contains chloramphenicol which is a broad spectrum antibiotic that belongs to the class of drugs known as amphenicols. It is used for the prevention and treatment of various bacterial infections. It is mainly used in the treatment of parrot fever, rickettsial infection, cystic fibrosis, pneumonia, and also sometimes in the management of typhoid fever.
Discontinuing Chlo on your own can increase the chances of bacterial resistance and infection relapse. It is recommended that you always consult your doctor if you have decided to discontinue this medicine.
Chlo contains chloramphenicol which is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It works by inhibiting the protein synthesis in bacteria which needs to survive. In the absence of protein, the bacterial growth is stunned and slowed. It can also kill the bacteria in higher doses.
